Welcome

Dr. Misra joined the Microbiology faculty at ASU in 1991 after receiving his postdoctoral training from Princeton University, New Jersey and Ph.D. degree from Adelaide University, Australia.
Dr. Misra's laboratory studies bacterial outer membrane-associated events in Escherichia coli, including assembly of outer membrane proteins, defensive cellular responses to envelope stress, antibiotic efflux, and toxin transport. These fundamental biological processes are being studied through utilizing genetic, molecular, biochemical and structural approaches. Research in Dr. Misra’s laboratory has been continually funded by grants from the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Misra was the Director of the School of Life Sciences Graduate Programs from 2005 to 2008, and is a current member of the Microbiology Graduate Program Steering Committee. Dr. Misra is a member of the Journal of Bacteriology Editorial Board and has served in the PCMB study section of the NIH from 2005 to 2009. He was nominated for the Professor of the Year Award in 2005 and 2008 and was a finalist of the 2008 Outstanding Graduate Mentor Award. Aside from research and teaching, Dr. Misra has a keen interest in photography.
